Volunteering opportunities

Groundswell believes that experience of homelessness is an asset

Through volunteering, that asset can be used to support others who are experiencing homelessness, and change policy and services to make them more effective.

Current opportunities

We are recruiting volunteers to join the HHPA training in London this November.

You’ll have an initial induction session, then attend a training course on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays spread over three weeks in November 2022. Everything will be hosted at our office in Kennington Park Workspace (closes tube Oval).

Induction session: Thursday 3rd November at 1pm

Training days, week 1: 8th, 9th and 10th November

Training days, week 2: 15th, 16th and 17th November

Training days, week 3: 22nd, 23rd and 24th November

More information about being a volunteer Peer Advocate and the training programme is below.

London Homeless Health Peer Advocates

Homeless Health Peer Advocates (HHPA) support people experiencing homelessness to access health services, increase their confidence and look after their health independently.

If you are based in London, have experience of homelessness and want to find out more, then we would love to hear from you!

Training information

First of all, we’ll have a conversation with you to discuss whether the training is right for you.

If you join the training, Groundswell will:

  • train you fully to take on the HHPA role
  • cover your expenses
  • support you to access further training
  • help you develop your skills and build a CV.
